Dr. Joram Begi is one of the renowned educationists from Arunachal Pradesh. Born in a remote village, he belongs to a Nyishi tribe of Arunachal Pradesh. He has been a witness to the Chinese aggression in 1962 and then the whole process of evolution from NEFA to Arunachal Pradesh as one of the states of India. Brought up in a situation where there was no school, he kept his urge in studies and became the first Master Degree holder from his tribe. He is known as a thoughtful community leader, an excellent administrator and a good orator.


His proficiency over 5 national languages and many local dialects of Arunachal made him more popular as a good speaker especially among the youth. Before joining as a Director of Higher & Technical Education, he chaired many prestigious positions in Government of Arunachal Pradesh - Principal of DNG College, Registrar of Arunachal University, Jt. Director of Public Instruction (Higher Education) and Co-ordinator IGNOU (Indira Gandhi National Open University) Study Center.


With his down to earth approach and good networking for the welfare of the people living in remote corner of India, he holds important portfolios of many nationally fame organizations. He is the President of Vivekananda Kendra, Arunachal, Chairman, Bhartiya Itihas Sankalan Samiti, Arunachal and Chairman Abotani Mission Arunachal, Chairman, Central Nyokum Committee etc. He has been the founder President and the longest serving President of the Nyishi Elite Society-an apex body of the community.


His research thesis for his Doctorate on “Growth and Evolution of Education in Arunachal Pradesh Since 1947” is considered as a monumental document. He authored three books, the latest being “Dynamics of Higher Education-local,national and global” and over 20 articles. A scholar of par excellence, he was the member of the North East Zonal Cultural Committee, Dimapur, Sahitya Academy, New Delhi, Indian Institute of Public Administration, New Delhi, Member of Indian History Congress, New Delhi and Life Member of North East India History Association.


With this vast experience, he now holds the Chairmanship of our RIWATCH, Arunachal Pradesh. (Research Institute of World’s Ancient Traditions Cultures & Heritage).
